Challenge 3. Healthy diet. Do we pay attention to what and how we eat?

Students discuss their own diet (make a week diet plan) and check with an expert (dietitian, school nurse) if the diet is healthy.

They discuss the food pyramid and make a healthy week-long diet plan.

Cook book with healthy food recipes is created.

A healthy food fair at schools is run.

Students have been writing  their weekly diet plan, how was their diet, what do they usually have every day of the week. They have been taking notes of their diet at the end of each day. A nice activity to reinforce our meeting with the dietician.

In Poland since Monday 19th October 2020 schools were on online teaching again and we had to work online on our project. Instead of meeting a dietitian at school we watched a film with an expert talking about healthy food and lifestyle rules.

Spanish students attended a meeting with an expert, a dietician and chemist especialist who talked and explain our students about the food pyramid, the balanced plate and about a healthy diet. They explain their own weekly diet, and were comparing the healthy diet with the one they usually have. There was a power point presentation and a final debate. Thanks to Lourdes Medina for coming to our school and make our students aware of the importance of having a healthy diet.

All schools worked on SUGAR activity

Activity consists in calculating the amount of sugar that contains the processed products that we can buy in a supermarket.

Students must bring with them a processed product from home, for example biscuits pack, a cane of cola, chocolate…..

Looking at the nutrition facts of the product we  calculated,  “Numerical proportionality”, the amount of sugar that  the product that they brought contains.

Polish students were online and they satrted checking how much sugar is in the food products they eat everyday:

At  healthy food fairs at schools were run. Students made healthy breakfast, got to know the value of deliciuos homemade preserves. At schools we promoted healthy and natural food full of vitamins and healthy ingredients.
